Mr. Herbert Link was born in Bangkunprom, near the new Bank
of Thailand, in Bangkok, on August 5, 1910. He was interned
in India during World War I and came back to Thailand in 1927
and decided to join the company as a management trainee in
December 1932, at the age of 22.
Having worked in all departments and sections of the company,
in 1939, when Mr. Adolf Link decided to return to Germany,
Mr. Herbert Link was asked to lead B. Grimm. During that same
year, he had also wed to his life-long partner, Alma Link.

One week after their wedding, World War II started. While
many businesses were forced to close down due to the economic
crisis during the war, Mr. Herbert Link continued to venture
into other prospects. Some of the successful ideas had been
to import goods from Germany, through Siberia railway, to
export tin to Germany, to import microscopes and artificial
black teeth for betel nut chewers from Japan, and sales of
cartoons and camera boxes from Japan.
As World War II ended in 1945, B. Grimm was asked to close
the business temporarily, as it was owned by a German Family.
During that time, the family was under house arrest. Documents,
equipments and stocks were ceased and confiscated. The company
re-opened in 1947 and continued to prosper. Mr. Herbert Link
carried the B. Grimm legacy for another 40 years, with emphasis
on importing high quality consumer goods from Germany and
on providing the best quality work on various infrastructure
projects.

Mr. Herbert Link strongly believed that the family's success
depended greatly on the support of the Thai community. He
was known to have said that without the Thai people, Thai
religion and support from the Royal Family, B. Grimm would
not be where it is today. He took every opportunity possible
to contribute to the community during his active membership
of 45 years with The Rotary Club of Bangkok, where he was
also the chairman for a certain period of time. He also opened
two schools in the province, in the areas where there were
no schools prior, A.H Link School in Petchburi Province and
B. Grimm School in Prachinburi Province. The two schools are
still in existence as of today.
Mr Herbert Link passed away on January 25, 1993, at the age
of 83.
