B. Grimm and Company has been in existence for over 130 years, which makes it one of the oldest corporate citizens in the Kingdom. The company is also the first German firm to be incorporated in Thailand.

In 1878, during the reign of King Chulalongkorn, a German pharmacist, Mr Bernhard Grimm, together with an Austrian merchant, Mr Erwin Mueller, set up a small chemist shop, on New Road, called Siam Dispensary. Shortly after the opening, the dispensary became very successful and was appointed to prescribe medicine to the Royal Household.

After King Chulalongkorn had returned from abroad, he began to have vision of how to improve the nation. He brought back ideas from Europe and began quickly to put them into effect. He began to improve the road system in the capital and had the tram system installed, one of the first in Asia. He also introduced the railway system, which eventually linked Bangkok with British Malaya ( present Malaysia) and Singapore.

These changes helped to accelerate the kingdom's economic development. There were increases in demands for luxury goods and other necessities. The trade industry grew rapidly, making it very attractive for Mr Grimm and Mr Mueller to look into other business opportunities.

Mr. Adolf Link expanded the office and moved to Maha Chai Road in 1928.
